Are you the type of plant-lover that kills every plant you own and can’t seem to coax a carrot out of the ground? Good news, there’s a whole host of experts ready to help at the annual Coachella Valley Garden Day!
What’s happening: This Saturday local experts from Riverside County Master Gardeners, Desert Horticultural Society, and UCR Palm Desert are getting ready to teach members of the community a thing or two about how to garden in the desert, and the importance of sustainable landscaping.
Learn by doing: The event will feature interactive sessions and lectures about winter desert gardening, composting, and more.
- And once you’re sufficiently inspired to garden, you can buy yourself some plants at the event too! Look for the two Milkweed non-profits selling plants to help the Monarch butterfly population.
The schedule is seriously packed with interesting topics, speakers, and vendors so you’re sure to find something that piques your interest. Read the whole schedule here.
Details: And the best part is: the event and parking is free! The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the UCR Palm Desert Campus. Our take: The internet helped answer many questions from burgeoning plant parents during the pandemic, but let’s face it, gardening in the desert is different! At this event actual experts and master gardeners will be there in the flesh to answer all your specific questions about desert heat, pests, and proper care.
